A location based augmented reality application game with GPS capability. The app would be developed for the City of Mississauga. It would recruit school age youth from nearby schools.
The project would be funded by the city in collaboration with the Ontario Invasives Species Unit. The goal of the game is to find the native, invasive and extinct species and unlock their classification details. The different species can spawn in different locations through the day and more rare species may be dropped once during the week. In addition, collect the invasives in your bucket inventory and return them to the headquarters which is Mississauga’s Celebration Square.
Students can return the species to the tmeporary sculptures installed on site representing the species for each biome. Virtually dropping them through the QR code at the base of the sculpture. The app also includes a leaderboard and would also be projected onto the screens in Celebration Square so players can meet up and their rankings.
Application Interface:
App uses 3D low-poly animal models sourced from 3D Warehouse database.Library display booth for app and activity information.
